Presentation to highlight Lawdex plan for converting
90% of California’s attorney service firms to electronic routing model within three
years.
Seattle, WA [September 14,
2005] –Premiere
eFile provider Lawdex Corporation announced today its roadmap to convert 90 percent of California’s attorney service firms to electronic document routing within three years. Lawdex developed the plan with expert input from the 350 member California Association of Process Servers (CAPPS).
Lawdex and CAPPS will present the
new eFiling and document routing model before the National Center for State Courts’ Ninth Annual Technology Conference in Seattle, Washington, on Wednesday, September
14th [Seattle Convention Center, Room 4C-3 at 1:15 PM]. Presenters include Jeff Karotkin, CAPPS eTechnology Chair and Scott Stanley, CEO for Lawdex.
The Lawdex plan addresses those
courts who’ve expressed the need for eFile adoption without court disruption.
Originally formulated by Lawdex for submission to the Arizona Judicial Council,
the three-phased adoption plan calls for graduated rather than court mandated
eFiling. E-Filing in most U.S.
Federal courts will be mandatory by the end of 2006.
"By serving the process server
community we’re serving a vital link between attorneys, their clients, and the
courts," said Stanley. "Our model promises to electronically
network California attorneys along a roadmap already conceived by California engineers to link all court-records electronically within a very short time-frame.”
CAPPS handles document running,
court filing, and service of civil litigation papers for 90% of California’s
Attorneys. The proposed roadmap
promises to immediately impact the rate of eFile adoption by lawyers within
California and
other states considering their conversion from paper to electronic court
filings.
Attorneys and court administrators
have expressed a critical need to improve the speed at which paper flows through
the California
legal system. In the
U.S. as a whole this will include
more than 1.5 billion documents from 90 million court cases in 2005. Lawdex is
responding to this demand by delivering a solution through the CAPPS membership
to automate what had been a mostly manual process for sending, receiving and
recording court documents.
Process servers, lawyers, and
administrators using the Lawdex solution can initiate a request to route a
document and track its movement throughout the routing process. The result is a
more visible and efficient process that eliminates paper filing and reduces
manual touch-points.
Lawdex announced its strategic
alliance with software pioneer Nsite Corp in December of 2004 as part of its
ongoing effort to deliver eFiling to the legal community. Nsite online software serves as the
engine powering the Lawdex document-routing solution.
